Our commitment as counselors in working with students and families
Student wellbeing and removing barriers to learning is our priority! The counselor's role is to guide and support students in having equitable access to educational advancement, to address social/emotional developmental needs, and to help students plan and prepare for life beyond high school. It is our privilege to work with students and their families in this important stage of their adolescent development.
At the high school level, as is developmentally appropriate, this is a key time to encourage and empower our students to initiate communications with school staff regarding their own school matters. It is generally expected that high school students participate in any conversations and meetings about their education. If a parent or guardian would prefer to discuss a more sensitive matter without their student present, please email or call me to request a time to speak directly.
