WASC PARENT SURVEY INFORMATION
-
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the California Department of Education require that high schools undergo a self-study every six years as part of the accreditation process. The self-study focuses on student achievement of our Schoolwide Learner Outcomes and the state's academic standards. The document also identifies two or three Critical Academic Needs and an Action Plan to guide our self-improvement efforts over the next six years.
To start the process we would like your opinion on how effective the school's staff, programs and facilities are in meeting the needs of your child; what you see as our greatest strengths; and where you feel we need improvement. This information will be used to facilitate our self-study over the next 12 months.
The school's current Mission Statement and Schoolwide Learner Outcomes are reproduced below and can guide you in the completion of this survey. As a part of this self-study the staff and school community will review the Mission Statement and Learner Outcomes to see if revisions are warranted.
Schoolwide Learner Outcomes: The school community is charged with the task of taking students from where they are, adding value to what they already know and building on what they are able to do. Our primary role as educators is to create a learning environment where students become lifelong learners and valuable contributors to society. To achieve these outcomes, students must demonstrate a mastery of academic content, exhibit high levels of critical thinking and produce high quality work. In addition, students should develop the individual and collective personal qualities that contribute to an effective learning community and a healthy society.Oak Park High School prepares its graduates to be:
