Read and follow the directions carefully.

PurposesSummer reviews serve the following purposes:

    1.  Review Algebra I concepts,

    2.  Fill in any gaps that you have not practiced before,

    3.  Increase the speed and fluency in solving problems,

    4.  Train yourself to learn/work/think independently.

What to do:  Pick any Algebra I textbook or utilize any online format to have access to the following Algebra I concepts:

    1.  Number sense

    2.  Arithmetic (especially the operations on rational numbers, exponents, and square roots)

    3.  Linear functions and their graphs

    4.  Factoring polynomials with degree 2

After reviewing those concepts, you need to (click on the underlined words for files):

    a.  Obtain a notebook (which will be served as your homework notebook during the school year)

    b.  Label clearly with your name and subject on the first page

    c.  Spend a certain amount of time routinely working out some problems of your choice to demonstrate mastery of the concepts.  For each time doing your practice, you need to record the start, end, and elapse time at the top right conner of the page.

    d.  Do the "Common Mistakes" problems

    e.  Take the review test (again, record start, end, and elapse time). *** This review test is not all-inclusive for the Readiness Quiz on the first week of school.  Make sure you thoroughly master all Algebra I concepts in order to take Algebra II with Trigonometry (Honors).

This summer work is NOT graded on how many pages you have finished, how fast you have solved a problem, or how you have done more than what your friends have.  Therefore, be honest with yourself in analyzing how the review has served the 4 purposes listed above.  YOU choose to take a difficult course and accept a new challenge, so persevere and be a better self each day, but don't forget to have fun!

You will be taking a Readiness Quiz on the second day of school (8/9)
