Policies, Requirements:
1. Each student is expected to enter the room quietly, take his/her seat, and be ready to work at the designated time that class begins. The school tardy policy as presented in the Student Handbook will be enforced.
2. Each student is to bring all required materials to class everyday. This includes textbooks, paper, pencil, a correcting pen, blue/black ink pen, daily assignment book, 3-ring binder with dividers, a hand-held pencil sharpener, colored pencils, and post-it notes.
3. Each student is to cover all of his/her books. The student's name needs to be written on the cover.
4. Each student is to show respect for their fellow students by following classroom rules such as: speak kindly to others, use your time wisely and work on the task assigned, socializing is to be done during nutrition and lunch and not during class, maintain self-control to help create a positive learning environment, follow directions, demonstrate ideal listening skills, and food, drinks, or gum may not be brought to class.
Positive Recognition:
To encourage students to follow classroom rules, I will recognize appropriate behavior with praise, positive notes, and positive calls home. Students who follow the rules consistently throughout the week will receive tickets for a drawing for prizes at the end of each month.
Consequences:
If a student chooses to break a rule, the following steps will be taken, in the order they appear.
· First time a student breaks a rule: Discipline check
· Second time: A second discipline check
· Third time: A third check and detention during lunch and a call home
· Fourth time: Parent-student-teacher conference
· Severe disruption and/or reoccurring persistent behavior: Send referral to assistant principal
Responsibilities:
1. Each student is responsible for turning in all work assigned in class. Any work not completed in class is homework and is to be turned in the next day. A maximum of 1/2 credit will be given for work turned in one day late.
2. For excused absences, each student may make up class work, homework, and tests. Each student will have the number of days absent plus one to make up the work missed. Each student must make arrangements with the teacher the day you return from an absence to make up tests. The teacher will not ask you for any work or tests that need to be made up. BE RESPONSIBLE!!
3. Each student is to get at least 2 phone numbers from different people in the class so he/she may phone them to get information or assignments in case he/she is absent. Select a "Study Buddy" or partner that you can rely upon to take good notes for you.
Grading:
Each assignment will be given a point value. Each student will receive points for each assignment completed on time and each test taken. At the end of the grading period, each student's points will be added up, and the total points that he/she has earned will be divided by the total points that are possible. This will give the student a percentage. The following is the grading scale:
100=A+ 79-78%=C+
99-93%=A 77-73%=C
92-90%=A- 72-70%=C-
89-88%=B+ 69-68%=D+
87-83%=B 67-63%=D
82-80%=B- 62-60%=D-
59%=F
