    The word of the month is farm!  What would you see on a farm? 

     

     

     

    Ask your child which one is the largest: dog, horse, cow,
    rat.

    Act out these actions. (Riding a horse, planting a seed, riding on a tractor.)

    Name 5 animals that live on a farm.

    Explain what a tractor is used for.

    Play “I am going on a farm and I will hear …”

    Tell if these words are the same or different:

    Cat – Bat

    Cow – cow

    Duck - cluck
    Horse-horse
    chicken-hen

    Name 2 farm animals that are:

    • Pets
    • Loud
    • Quiet

    • Big

    Ask your child to name an animal that rhymes with habit and sat.

    Take turns acting out different farm animals and guessing what they are.

    Discuss the meaning of the idiom, “It’s raining cats and dogs.”

    Name an animal that has fur and one that does not have fur.

    Repeat these words in order: goat, cow, book, horse. Which one doesn’t belong?

    How many animals can you think of that begin with the same sound as your name?

    How is a shovel and pitchfork the same and how are they different.

    Name 3 words that rhyme with goat?  

    Tell a story about a farmer, the farmer’s wife, a field of cornstalks, and a scarecrow.

    Name 3 animals that have claws, paws, webbed feet and hooves.

    Which 2 words go together best. (horse, cow, sheep, colt)

    What does your parents’ mean when they say, “Quit horsing around”?

    Read the four words in the list. (lion, dog, cow, deer) “Which one is a pet?”

    Ask your child to tell you where each animal lives.  (tiger, bee, owl, pig, fox)

    Discuss the meaning of the idiom, “She eats like a bird.”

    Name an animal that rhymes with, “big”, “pow”, “stuck”, “course”.

    Plan a horseback riding trip.  Where would you go? What would you see?

    Explain how plants grow.
