Welcome

  • Welcome to the Oak Hills Elementary School family.  We believe that the school staff and our families form a vital team, working together to assist our children in their academic, social, and emotional growth.

At Oak Hills we set high expectations and clear goals for learning, collaboration and achievement.  We know that all members of our school community will work together to ensure that each individual achieves their potential.  As one succeeds, so does the team.

Oak Hills is a special and unique learning community that has been acknowledged as a leader in elementary education. Our school has been recognized twice as a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for meeting and exceeding national standards for school excellence.  We have been named a California Distinguished School  in 2016, 2018 and most recently in 2023 for maintaining high academic standards, implementing a well-articulated curriculum, and forging an outstanding learning environment. Oak Hills earned the California Gold Ribbon Schools Award for exemplary project-based and inquiry-based instruction. We have been recognized for our comprehensive reading and literacy support programs, in addition to our physical and nutrition education programs. Oak Hills was also selected as an Honor Roll School by the California Business for Education Excellence.

We hope that the information in the www.opusd.org/OHESHandbook will enable you and your student to understand our programs and practices.  Please take a moment to review this handbook, especially this year as there have been some minor changes that were made to better serve our school community.

    Sincerely,

    Heather Sloan
    Principal
