General Classroom Guidelines:
Homework- Homework will be sent home each Monday, all children should complete the mandatory "Must Do's", and feel free to enjoy the optional activities. Homework should be returned complete, with all work attached on Fridays. Reading Logs - Reading is an essential part of our learning. Each kindergartner must be read to each evening. Library Books - We visit the Library each Tuesday. We are learning to properly care for books, and practicing appropriate Library Etiquette. Children will bring a new book home each week, if they have returned the previous weeks' book. Please return the books to class by Tuesday so your child can select a new book. Water Bottles in class - I encourage children to drink water when they can, they are welcome to use the fountain in class, or to keep a water bottle in their cubbies. It is helpful if you write your child's name on the bottle. LABEL BELONGINGS - As a Mom myself, I can attest to the fact that my child often forgets what he's worn to school that day. I do my best to send home stray jackets and sweatshirts, but it is much easier if the child's name is written inside! Dress Code- The OHES Dress Code, is the Kindergarten Dress Code! Please, no spaghetti straps or bare midriffs. Wear "running shoes"with closed toes every day (Crocks are not acceptable). All girls wearing earrings must wear posts... it is not safe to wear hoops or dangles. No temporary tattoos. Girls should wear shorts under skirts, as we rarely stop moving and are often sitting on the carpet. For more information about the dress code, please refer to the school handbook.
