Kate Thompson - Teacher
Kate graduated from U.C.L.A. in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in History and a specialization in Education. She then entered the Graduate School of Education at U.C.L.A. where she earned her teaching credential in 1997 and her Master's Degree in Education in 1998. Kate taught six years at Santa Monica High School. She was dedicated to her work in teaching Humanities, Psychology, Sociology and acted as the Activities Director. Kate was named Teacher of the Year at Santa Monica High School in 1999. Kate joined Oak Park's Home School in the fall of 2002. She was awarded Oak Park's Stars award in 2009. She enjoys encouraging students to learn on their own and explore personal interests. One of Kate's favorite aspects of the Home School program is working with students in improving their writing skills and preparing them for college. In her spare time, Kate enjoys spending time with her family.
