The Card...

When a student breaks a rule, he/she will receive a Card.

The student will be asked to write the following:

THEIR NAME

THE DATE

WHAT DID I DO TO RECEIVE THIS CARD?

*** And after showing the card to me...

THEIRSIGNATURE.

Cards will be kept in "the box" (conveniently located on my desk) until the grading period. Cards will be counted and affect citizenship grades as follows:

0-2 cards= "O"

3-4 cards= "S"

5-6 cards= "N"

6 or more cards= "U"... (Hopefully this does not occur. The dean and parent will be contacted before this occurs.)

Checks...

Everyday, students have the opportunity to earn points for work habits. Students with outstanding work habits arrive to class on time, are in their seats and ready to work when I greet them, remain on task during the class time, and remain productive while working on projects and other class activities.

If a student is tardy, off task, or talking during morning announcements, they will receive a CHECK.
- Checks go against their work habits grade for each quarter.

0-2 checks= "O"

3-4 checks= "S"

5-6 checks= "N"

7 or more= "U"

- Checks also affect the student's PARTICIPATION GRADE, which is 20% of the student's grade for each quarter. Each Student starts with 100 points for participation at the beginning of each quarter. Each check will result in a 5 point deduction from the 100 points. At the quarter, their remaining balance for participation is their FINAL participation grade. (*For example: A student with 3 checks will have a final score of 85 at the quarter and result in a "B" for participation)

*I incorporate participation into their final grade because the nature of the art curriculum depends mostly on the student's participation on projects. Students spend most of their time on studio time. Their work habits, work ethic, and attitude while working on projects directly affect the finished product of their artwork.
