The Oak Park High School Rocket Team participates in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC)
This is a national student competition where teams of up to 10 students working with an adult adviser, attempt to design and build a model rocket that will meet the specifications of the contest and reach target altitude and flight time parameters. The top 100 teams in the nation are invited to participate in a national fly-off that is held in May in the Washington, D.C. area. The top team from this competition represents the United States in the national competition held at the Farnborough Air Show in England.
The 2011-12 Oak Park High School Rocket Team is made up of students in grades 10 and 11 who have been working on rocket designs for the past four years. The team hopes to qualify a rocket for the national competition this year.
