Oak Park schools are beginning to experience a leveling of enrollment due to the fact the area is ‘built out.’ This has created a unique opportunity for a few students to attend our schools who do not live in Oak Park. We have been designated a ‘district of choice,’ which allows us to accept a limited number of students from out of the attendance area. Additionally, under new legislation, we are now able to accept students on inter-district permits and renew them annually until the student graduates from high school even if the student begins to attend our schools in Kindergarten.

OPUSD is able to accommodate ALL students that applied by the District of Choice (DOC) deadline (12/31/09) for the fall 2010 school year! Welcome to our family!!!!!
 
We still have space in some grades for fall 2010. You must first obtain a release from your resident district in order to be placed on the waiting list. The only EXCEPTION is LAUSD Residents: If you are an LAUSD resident, please contact Linda Gam (lgam@oakparkusd.org) to request a District of Choice Transfer Application (it’s not necessary to get a release from LAUSD).
 
Once the release is obtained, please mail it to:

At that time, your student will be placed on the waiting list for fall 2010.
 
Once your student is on the waiting list, it may be necessary to wait until the first few days of school (9/1 – 9/3) to see if space becomes available. Many students have been placed in this fashion.
 
Monthly tours will begin again in October 2010. Please check the web-site in October for the tour schedule.
 
(Please Note: The DOC window for fall 2011 will be open again from 11/1/10 –12/31/10 for new families interested in joining us.)

PLEASE NOTE:
It was not necessary to get a release from your resident district if you applied before 12/31/09.
Beginning 1/1/10, it is necessary to get a release from your resident district in order to attend Oak Park Schools.
PLEASE NOTE:
Transfer renewals are automatic through Grade 12.
Every December, an "Automatic Renewal " form will be mailed to you for the following new school year. Please fill it out and return it upon receipt.
